Abstract
The mosque is a topic that Muslims have paid attention to from various perspectives over time. The identity of the Islamic-Iranian city is tied to the identity of the mosque, or in other words, the mosque plays a role as a prominent factor in the identity of the Islamic-Iranian city. The mosque, as a special element of Muslim complexes, requires its own relationship with the body of the city and its components. does to have the best and most appropriate performance and the mosque has an eternal identity. The main goal of this research is to express the importance of the role of the mosque in the identity of Iranian-Islamic cities.

Research method: The present research is descriptive-analytical in terms of its nature and method, and it is applied in terms of its purpose. To collect information, the method of library studies has been used in the field of collecting theoretical bases, documents and approaches.

Findings and conclusions: It can be said that mosques have been one of the main spiritual, mental and physical identity factors of all Muslim biological complexes, both in cities and villages. But today, unlike in the past, our mosques have not been able to blend with the architecture of their time and era and align with contemporary needs in terms of form and appearance. On the other hand, the general appearance of our cities has become free of religious, social and cultural concepts to a large extent, and the presence of mosques in cities, as the most important element of the city's structure, has become very weak and its role in organizing the space of Islamic cities. has been ignored.
