Abstract
Introduction: Historical axes have identity and value in our current time due to their links with the past, in the past these axes acted as vital arteries of the city and the main functions of the city took place around or along these axes.; Until today, maybe some of the same axes are physically and functionally the same as before and are not. The duty of this generation will be to be able to leave the legacy of the past for the future and be a strength on these axes by improving, restoring physical and functional.

Data and Method: This research, which has been carried out with library and field studies, and as an example, the old entrance route of Mashhad city from Qochan with the name of Qochan Gate (above the street) with the current name of Tawheed Square towards the sacred shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in holy Mashhad. It has been studied that the results of field observations and 50 questionnaires were included in the swot table.

Results: This article aims to restore the identity of Iranian-Islamic cities through the improvement of historical axes, because re-energizing these elements and characteristics creates a form of cities that will ultimately cause sustainability in all fields. becomes.

Conclusion: By examining its strengths and weaknesses, the physical inconsistency of this path with the identity elements of the historical and cultural axes in contemporary times was determined, which naturally requires management and physical revisions to repair the existing gaps.
