Abstract
The Iranian rural society, which until a few decades ago had held the majority of the country's population, has now undergone changes and has come a long way from its previous status and position. The hierarchical system of regular settlements and the lack of documented plans for the location of optimal centers in rural spaces, the lack of financial resources for villages, and finally the heterogeneous and relatively large dispersion of rural settlements in the geographical area of Iran have confronted the development process in rural areas with structural obstacles. The aim of this research is to evaluate and analyze the population changes in rural areas of Nimroz County during a statistical period from 1355 to 1400. This research is based on a combination of descriptive-analytical methods and is based on library and documentary studies. The statistical population of this research is the villages of Nimroz County. Data analysis was performed using rank-size and adjustment analysis models, entropy degree, and population elasticity coefficient. The results show that the calculated entropy value for Nimroz County has changed to 0.428, 0.420, 0.927, 0.515, and 0.465 respectively during the five census rounds. It can be concluded that the population of rural areas of the county has not had an effect on the development and distribution of the county's population. As this coefficient has decreased in Nimroz County, it is an expression of imbalance in population distribution.
